Victory ofTitleist On the LPGA Tour, Titleist loyalist Dottie Pepper earned her 16th career victory by sinking a dramatic 35-foot putt from just off the green on the final hole of regulation to win the Oldsmobile Classic. Pepper, who won her second career major at the Nabisco Dinah Shore earlier this year, relies upon the Titleist Tour Prestige golf ball, Titleist irons, a Titleist Titanium 976R driver, Vokey Design Wedges and a Scotty Cameron by Titleist putter for her success. Titleist liquid-filled center wound ball technology continues to be the technology used by more players for more wins on the worldwide professional tours. In addition to the three victories on the PGA and LPGA tours, David Berganio trusted the titleist Professional to win the Nike Permian Basin Open by two strokes, and Jim Ahern captured his first career victory in just his seventh start on the Senior PGA Tour. Ahern, who earned a position in the AT&T Canada Senior Open Championship as a qualifier, also relied upon the Titleist Professional golf ball to edge Hale Irwin in a playoff. Ahern's win marked Titleist's 17th consecutive victory on the Senior PGA Tour. Five more wins increases Titleist's year-to-date victory total on the worldwide professional tours to 134, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 19. Further proof, that there really is a difference between a golf ball and the #1 ball in golf. Titleist and FootJoy Worldwide and Cobra Golf Incorporated comprise the Acushnet Company, an operating company of Fortune Brands, Inc.

Titleist consulted over 3,000 Titleist DT loyalists and/or average and recreational golfers before finalizing what ultimately became DT Carry and DT Roll golf balls. "The New DT Carry and DT Roll are golf balls created by the average for the average golfer", said Sine. "From product to naming and packaging to advertising, the average golfer will relate to and appreciate the New Titleist products as they reflect their input, recommendations and cited requirements as to how we could add more distance and performance to their games.'' Research and Concept Validation: Three major player tests were conducted toward determining the direction for the next generation DT golf ball models. An overwhelming majority of these golfers, those who typically hit their drives in the 200-yard range, said they could, in fact, discern a distinct difference between the two options. However, there was a clear split as to the best way Titleist could achieve the distance and performance utopia they were seeking, with half citing a preference for the higher ball flight of the DT Carry and half for the lower ball flight of the DT Roll. "The DT Carry and DT Roll two-model strategy addresses a sizeable opportunity for average golfers to optimize their distance and playabilty," added Sine. "Most importantly and impressively, titleist consumers embraced the benefits and value of having two distinct product options available. The ultimate credibility of our strategy was realized when several consumers cited that they genuinely felt that Titleist was the first brand to make such a dedicated effort on their behalf."

Just the Stats:Geoff Ogilvy, trusting his Scotty Cameron prototype putter, led the field in Putting Average (1.639). Playing his new Titleist 909D3 driver and new set of Titleist MB irons, Ogilvy was also among the Top 10 in Greens in Regulation (85%). Fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker recorded the longest drive of the event, coming in at 424 yards on the 516-yard 7th hole in Round 2.

AUSTRALASIAN TOUR: Titleist Brand Ambassador Jason Norris (Pro V1) captured the Australian PGA Tour's season-opening Victorian Open in Melbourne. Norris finished at 10-under, two shots clear of titleist runner-up Chris Campbell (Pro V1). Titleist players accounted for 85 percent (133 players) of the Victorian Open field, 15 times the nearest competitor with nine players. In fact, 15 of the 17 players who finished among the Top 10 and ties, trusted the Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x for their success.

Titleist was the golf ball choice of more players in the limited 28-player field with 15, three times the nearest competitor with five. Titleist was also the favorite in the wedge category with 19 in play.

What's in Geoff Ogilvy's Titleist Bag: Pro V1 golf ball, Titleist 909D3 driver (9.5), Cobra S9-1 fairway metals (15, 18), Titleist MB irons (3-9), Vokey Design Spin Milled C-C pitching (50), sand (55) and lob (60) wedges, Scotty Cameron prototype putter.

Quoting Ogilvy: “I enjoyed the whole week. I played really well. This is the first time I've ever defended a golf tournament, which is pretty exciting. The first win of the year, first week with new golf clubs, brand new driver, brand new irons, perfect. I played good again.”… “I was one of those guys who grew up with titleist . It’s sort of like coming home. Titleist made me a set of irons to my exact specifications and they came out exactly right.”
